When a note is played below the range of the piano, a number shows up indicating that the note is actually being played an octave lower. However, this number is wrong. When a note is played one octave lower, a 15 shows up, which would mean that the note is played two octaves lower. Meanwhile, a note played 2 octaves lower displays an 8, indicating that the note is being played one octave lower.
